A lot of money to develop Menwith Hill

The MOD’s Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is responsible for the delivery of capital infrastructure projects for the United States Visiting Forces (USVF). The aim of the £2.8Bn United States Infrastructure Programme is to establish a US Air Force F-35 capability in the UK and consolidate the US Air Force UK footprint.

In relation to the specific contracts at RAF Menwith Hill and RAF Fairford, which fall under this, the Delivery Partner is a wider programme and delivery function across the whole USVF estate and it has been grouped into 3 packages across that USVF estate.  A consortium of Mace, Turner & Townsend and Atkins have been appointed to provide support to RAF Fairford and RAF Menwith Hill. They will deliver programme, project, commercial and design services to support programme delivery for any works on these sites that fall under the Major Programmes umbrella.

Various lifecycle replacement works are currently being scoped for buildings and assets at RAF Menwith Hill. A business case is being considered for a new front gate, though if approved, this will not form part of the Delivery Partner contract.
